This is one of those friend of a friend deals. He supposedly has a complete 396 carb to oilpan, even has the generator with it(must be an early model 396?) but anyway the motor is in pieces because it spun a crank bearing, but supposedly the crank is still good it just needs to be turned.... He's supposed to give me the numbers off the motor this week. He's a ford guy that doesn't know much about chevys and took the motor in this condition in a trade.
The guy wants $300, is this a good deal?(sounds like it) What is it worth?

You better find out what it is first.
A lot of Ford guys don't know the difference between a 283 and a 409
