I have an electric fan that I ganked off my friend's dad's 32 valve northstar caddy that was recked. I'm wondering if it would be efficient enough to cool a small block in my chevelle. As for the set up I think I would mount it in the big fan hole in the fan shroud, would that work?

I dont have a fan shroud right now, so I'm not able to realy look at it, but it seems like a good idea to me. thanks for any input! graemlins/beers.gif

Go to a junkyard and find a late 80s, early 90s fan from a taurus or a sable, must be the 3.8L tho. It is two speeds and moves a ton of air and has a built in shroud. They can be had for $25 usually and are becoming very popular with hot rodders and muscle car guys cause they will cool anything...I know a few people that have em running on low speed and they cool their V8s fine. I have one but its not hooked up yet.

I just started running a tuarus fan, and so far it works good cooling my BBC, so far I have only used low speed, but wired hi speed as well for the really hot summer weather when it arrives.

My daily driver is a 93 caddy, mine has dual fans, 1 puller and 1 pusher, I think they are 12" fans, there is no shroud, just the fans mounted to brackets. My caddy runs hot during hot humid weather, and a few times my engine overheated and I had to shut down the a/c. So I don't have good things to say about the caddy fans. since 93 I have had to replace the primary fan motor once and my car has 200,000 miles. So they are reliable, but don't push/pull that much air. Just giving my .02 worth!

Don't forget to make sure your wiring and alternator are up to the task of a new electric fan, I would suggest that the stock systems in a 64-72 would benefit from an upgrade. Likely some good info in the electrical forum....good luck.
