How can i do a quick piston skirt to cyl wall check with a feeler guage? the bore is 30 over and the pistons are forged-I need at least 4 thous clearance!

Slip piston into bore upside down holding on to rod and measure at skirt side of piston, rotate and measure again both sides of piston skirt for 4 measurements at 9,3,12,and 6 o'clock positions. This should give good accurate clearance. Goodluck! :cool:

When I check bore clearance I like to make sure that the pistons and engine are in the same room at least 8 hours before I make the measurment. The expansion characteristics of iron and aluminum are very different.
