Wow, I'd love to go have a look at that thing for ideas. If he can hook a 7.99 then I shouldn't have any trouble with an 8.99!

Duh...
Clicked on smileys, got the rundown.

Are the REALLY specialized smileys something that has been downloaded or on some software? Over on the "Current Events" forum, there's a post with all kinds of animated versions and another with Spiderman.

Who cares about the other car! lolYou can say that again. I want to hear more details about that 7 second Chevelle! What motor is he running? What cam, heads, and suspension? That's really Kool

If that is the same Chevelle that was at Orlando last year, It still had a 12 bolt and stock style suspension.

7.99 WOW!!!

Surely he wasn't running a 12 bolt GM rear end? Everyone knows they can't hold up to that kind of power

Here's Richie's old car.

http://www.fbperformance.com/NewSite/RacerInfo.asp?key=48

I can assure you there's a ton of effort to get that car to work as well as it does. Alot of tricks to make it run that quick, yet leave like it's an 12 second car. His cars are on the rough side visually, but they fly!

That's funny, we have 3640 lb Nova up here running 8.30's with a 12 bolt GM rearend. But what do I know, I guess we are not everyone.

Guilty as charged. I see people posting (on this forum and elsewhere) how 12-bolt rear ends won't hold up to any significant power, it's a poor design, and on and on. There are PLENTY of people running these setups in fast cars (myself included, although 10 seconds isn't that fast by today's standards). Can/will they break? Sure! And so will every other rearend. A properly built 12 bolt will take a licking and keep on ticking! A beefed up 12 bolt is more than adequate for about 99.9% of the folks that post on this board, IMO. Just taking a friendly jab at the naysayers :)

The 12 bolt spreads upon impact and the added clearance is what breaks the ring and pinion gears. Very close to the same size as a Ford 9", "gear for gear", but the rear pinion support on the Ford definately increases strength. The 12 bolt rear ends will take it some of the time but they're not designed as well as the Ford setup.

My mistake! I guess I am getting used to defending everything I write on the Internet. I would guess that some of the naysayers would freak, if they seen Dave Henninger's 2nd generation run mid to high eights with a 10 bolt rearend.

If it is the same Chevelle I think it was running 8.20's in Orlando last year. As a matter of fact they had two of them in there pit area.

Richie Stine's car has run those times for quite some time now. We had a '68 Chevelle here at the "Clash of the Titans" race, last weekend, that ran 8.12 @ 172 on a very marginal track and looked like he had more left. It did only weigh 3305 lbs. with the driver on board. Richie's old car was prettier though.

dang! how did they get them so light? and how much juce to go that fast. Fiberglass hood, doors, deck lid, bumpers, and lexan windows. It was also a '68 which is the lightest of the late models to begin with. P.S........ Lots of juice! Probably 400+.

Talked w/Richie at Shakedown last year, car has a 572 w/progressive on it, not sure of how much he's spraying. Car did have a 12 bolt in it, runs a radial. No coil overs, everthing in stock location. If you look at his green car and his old car, no anti-roll bar he makes a sway bar thats welded to the lower control arms, he knows how to make them work:hurray:

yes, i was refering to the second race. I'm pretty keen on finding the supras because I've had my butt kicked by them a few times!!:D Beating up on imports is getting tougher these days.
