: Engine bay, underside painted, new wheels installed
SMilligan Apr 24th, 07, 9:23 AM The project is moving along now that the weather has warmed up a bit. I painted the underside and engine bay with "chasis saver" (like por 15) and top coated with PPG alk 190 chasis paint. The hardest part was the prep, there was a bunch of oil under the car. Used a pressure washer at first then resorted to manual labor with dish soap and a brush followed up by paper towels and brake cleaner. Took about 16 hours.

Here's the new wheels, Torque thrust 2's, 17" with the Eibach springs installed. Still kind of high since the eng and tranny are out.

Yea, looks a bit high to me also. I am thinking since the engine and tranny are out and the springs are new it will settle down some when I add the engine. The shocks are also out, not sure if that matters much..

The wheels are Eagle Alloys, 17x8 front with 4" backspace, 245/45/17 and 17X 9 1/2 rear with 5.5" backspace, 275/40/17. Goodrich TA KDW. Bought the entire package on Ebay for $1400 a few months back. I also bought the Alston Varishocks, hoping the handling will be improved a bit.
70chevellemalibu Apr 25th, 07, 2:05 PM how is buying wheels and tires on ebay? im always scared that the order will get screwed up and send me wrong backspacing, or a bad rim.

My experience buying wheels on Ebay was good, I bought from a private seller however (he bought from Summit racing). I have bought quite a bit from Ebay, I check the feedback and usually get a phone number to talk with the person if it is an expensive item.

I had a good expierence buying a set of wheels on Ebay also. Picked up a set of Billet Specialties 17s at a great price, unused and unopened in the factory boxes. Its the most money I have ever spent on the internet and only my 5th or 6th purchase on Ebay.
