I was still working on tweeking in my motor, well
i have a 850 dp that i got new and have been making it work on my 454 ,well it turns out its too much carb for the street , the guy who will be helping me tweek my motor in said the same thing that most people have said, too big ! well I'm going to find a 750 dp. sell / trade my 850 ((ebay/mortec) it eats up
big time gas just sitting at idle, and its time to
get it from running rich at higher rpms
dose sound about right

850s are not good street carbs even in a lite car. You will be much happier with a 750 unless you have a 7000 rpm 454.

I'd think the 850 would be just right once calibrated, heck a 350 will usually run stronger with a 750. JMO A friend of mine is running a 468 with a 292 hydraulic, ported 781's team G with a 1000 dominator, only 9.5-1 compression. He clicks off 11.2Et consistantly in his 79 Cutlass and still drives it on the street without problem. Don't the factory quadrajunks flow 850? Tune the one you have IMO :(

Robert an 850 is not to much carb for a 454,but for a car mostly driven on the street I would go with the 750dp or vs.You can get a holley 3310s at summit for $269 and that includes electric choke, and will get better milage than a dp carb. graemlins/waving.gif
