I have a 71 Velle with manual steering and it sucks. I was thinking about buying all the power steering parts from napa or somewhere and converting it to power, what would I need for that conversion?

I think you need the box, the rag joint, lines, pump, resevoir, pump braket, pump pulley, and a belt of course. You would also need to chnage the crank pulley to a two belt style.

Add in Pittman arm , too. It is not the same as the manual type.

Many auto-parts stores sell the typical rebuilt slow-ratio power steering units. You might not be happy going from a manual steering box to a slower powered box. Stock power steering boxes often require 3.5 to 4.5 turns lock-to-lock.

For a little more $ you could buy a quick-ratio power steering box in the range of 12:1 or 14:1. Steering will take a little more effort like with a manual box, but require less movement in the wheel.

On my '70 I am using an Atsco 6000 power steering pump ($55), Duralast 15360 belt ($9), and AGR 292117 12:1 ratio steering box ($350 at Summit) that gives less than 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. Add to that the crank pulley, pump pulley, pressure hose (Duralast 70263 $23) and return hose (Duralast 70518 $11), the rag joint ($30), and the pitman arm.
