Harold I want to put a different cam in my 283 in my 66 chevelle. Its all stock with iron intake, 2 barrel, exhaust manifolds and duals. Also has a powerglide with 3.08 gears Looking for a cam to give better mileage and a little more performance. I'm currently looking at your 254/262 and the 250 voodoo cam. Thanks again, Kevin.

Kevin,

The 250 VooDoo is about as big a cam as I would put in your engine. The 254/262 is about 8° smaller at .050, and will also work just fine. I have put the 254/262 in many a 305 pickup, and in an IROC-Z the 254/262 twice won the SCCA Stock championship. On the safe side, with the 3.08 gears I would lean towards the 254/262.
When I lived in Southaven, I had a neighbor with a black 57 BelAir hardtop with the 283 and a 3-speed column-shifter. His was a 4-bbl, so I used the UD 266, 211 at .050, .441" valve lift, and I think 110 LSA. He loved it, and it was definitely aggressive. The VooDoo 256 cam is slightly bigger than my old 266.....

Thanks Harold. I'll go ahead and run the 254/262.
