I washed my 69SS for the first time since I started paint/body/interior a couple years ago. I don't have the rear window mouldings on yet as I want to drill a couple of holes in the corners of the window channel so water can drain instead of sitting in there. Have any of you done this? Also, have you attached small drain hoses from the holes leading to somewhere that the water can harmlessly drain to, say the drain holes in the trunk drop offs? I stripped all the surface rust from the rear channel and sealed with POR15, but I still don't want water sitting in there. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll drill a hole in each lower corner, then dab them with some POR15. The only time the car will ever get wet is when I am washing it, so I think I'll just put a couple of small plastic pails in the trunk to collect the run off from the drain holes, then dump them out when I am done. Pretty poor design on GM's part.

Some people drilled the holes then used steel brake lines. The drilled a hole the size of the line, then slid it down, so the flared end would sit on the quarter. A little bit of JB Weld or something similar, and then soft lines running to a drain down in the drop-offs.

I did that in both my '69's. Used 3/16" dia brake lines about 2" long and clamped rubber hoses on them and ran the hoses over the wheel wells to in front of the rear wheels where there are drains below the windows. I ground the flares on the brake lines down to where there were really thin (to not stick up as much) and epoxied them in place. I used resin gel below to reinforce.
