Guys, I'm trying to help out a buddy find some new tires for his '69 4-4-2. He's got some old BFG's on the car currently mounted to 14" Rally wheels 225/70. I don't think he's really wanting to venture too far from this size, but most of my searching has come back with limited "good" tires in this size. Anyone have any suggestions, please feel free to chime in. I think he's looking to change these out in the next few weeks.
Thanks in advance.

Based on a post here about a week ago, and hearing nothing since, it's possibe BFG tires will be hard to come by due to a strike. Don't know the validity of it other than the posts here.
What's a "good" tire to your buddy? All-around street? Dry performance only? There are plenty of good tires, probably not many choices in that size. Would he consider 15"? Looks almost identical.
I'd go online to www.tirerack.com and check out what's available, then hit the tire shops pre-armed with some data.

We need more information. What do you mean by good tires? traction, all season tires?
If he stay with 14 he is really limited to very few options. Try to get him to upgrade to 15s, then you have tons of tires to pick from.
BFG, Dunlop, Yokohoma, and Firestone all make performance all season tires in that size.
Does he want white lettering? if so that will narrow your choices between 3.

I think it'll be hard to get him to switch to 15" since the car is mainly original. The Olds Rally's are somewhat hard to come by and I don't think he'll change the OEM equipment. Before the BFG's, he had polyglass tires, so that gives you an idea of this guy. The car is only driven in nice dry weather, so no need for wet/all-seasons.

Hello,
How about some Cooper tires? Cooper Cobra Radial GT are fine looking tires and very good quality. They have the size you listed. Unless they changed recently, they are still made in America. I've used Cooper tires exclusively on my Ramcharger and '71 Chevelle for many years.
This year, though, I just had to have those '60s and '70s tires on my Chevelle for the original look. So I ordered Polyglas tires from Kelsey Tires. I stay as close as possible to the original 1971 factory tire height for my Chevelle.

Nothing beats the BFG Radial T/A's, white letters out of course.
