I was planning on converting these vortecs i have to use the old style valve covers or sb2.2 valve cover. i will be using a milling machine for perfect positioning and turning threaded steel bosses to be brazed into the head at the valve cover gasket rail. So i was thinking if im gonna be doing the work anyway i could set it up to use the 8 bolt sb 2.2 valve covers peoples eyes would pop if they seen that under my hood. so any way i need to find the physical dimensions of these covers like bolt spacing overall width and length does any one know how I might get these specs with out buying the covers up front. they dont use a gasket so i cant get one to measure cheaply.

I have no idea for sure. But I thought the SB2 uses a very short valve cover because cover rails on the heads are very high to stop leaks. I could be completley wrong too.

normally that adapter would work. but I am running a shaft rocker system and there is a huge aluminum stand that is bolted across the whole head. plus i have heard bad stuff about those adapters like leaking ect. i want something permanent and it would be cheap to do since i can machine them myself, and brazing the plugs in will be easier and safer than haveing the heads welded.

instead of screwing around with an old set of Vortecs, why not just get a set of the new bigger and badder "Bowtie" vortecs they got in the new GMPP catalog? the big ones are essentially cast iron Fast burn heads, and have the capability of bolting on old and new valve covers- but not the SB2.2 cover, however.
