: What Are My Choices?

Anybody out there know what my choices are when looking for an aftermarket intake manifold. I have an oval port big block but I want to run the stock cowl induction hood/air cleaner setup. I hate the cast iron intake. Thanks, Rick

Performer is a dual pattern manifold (Will work with qjet). If you plan to switch to a holley as well, then go for the RPM.

One of my friends runs an RPM airgap with a holley and chrome air cleaner under a stock SS hood. Looks nice, the air cleaner is real close to the hood (you can see an imprint in the insulation) but it works fine....just dont leave the stud sticking out above the wing nut, and close the hood slow the first time incase it does hit.

I think you may have misunderstood. I want to run the stock cowl induction air cleaner that mates to the underside of the hood. smile.gif

Probably the Edel. Performer or the Weiand Action Plus used with a Q-jet. I don't think the problem lies with the manifold, if I remember right, the Cowl Induction setup only fits the Qjet carbs. You can probably use either of these and eliminate the spacer installed bteween the carb/air cleaner base.

regular performer will not accept q-jet.
however there is a q-jet performer intake specifically for the q--jet

shane Since when? Q-jets have always been my carb of choice on big and small blocks with the performer intake. The standard performer rpm, on the other hand, will not accept the q-jet without an adapter. But, they also make a q-jet pattern performer rpm.

standard performer rpm has the same square bore mount as the performer, there the same.you have to get the performer Q-jet spread bore intake to mount a q-jet,or put a adapter on the regular performer.if you could bolt a q-jet to a regular square bore intake(wich you cant)you would have one massive vacuum leak at the sides of your q-jet.square bore(holley/carter) is wider then spread bore(q-jet and the older carter afb's)
if i'm wrong someone please correct me!!!!!
but i'm sure i'm correct.although i've been known to be wrong once or twice.

The Performer is set up for the Q jet. & will accept either. Ede makes a plate they try to sell you but it is not usually needed for a std holley to seal. At least I have never found it necessary.

Look again, those extra bolt holes, are for the Q-jet.
