new s/b hydroroller motor, about 50 miles on it. started it today after going to a cruz-in saturday, 36 miles round trip. 1 lifter making a slight noise. pulled the filter and cut it apart. few VERY SMALL pieces of metal (3 or 4). pulled the drain plug and run about a qt out. oil looks pretty normal till you blow across the top of it. this will produce metalic like streaks that quickly fade. ideas? im expecting worst case. Dave,
That is pretty normal for a new engine. Change the oil and run it some more, it is probably fine.

the engine was dynoed and the oil was drained after the dyno. this is its second time filled. i would have thought that any residual metal left from the engine machining would have been gone the first change. Ideas?

Dave, all that residue will not come out on the 1st oil change. Alot of it will but not all. You should see a gradual reduction with each successive oil change. Change it, run it, then inspect again. Thats what I'd do anyhow.
