Do you have any problems with the tail pipes banging/rubbing/making noise? We're looking to install a 3 inch system from the 3 1/2" collectors on the headers to the bumper. Most likely through an x pipe and we will definitely run with the tails on - no turndowns. This is on a '70 LS5.
Any comments on the Pypes systems? Their race pro mufflers and their Pro-V's sound really good! We'll probably end up with one of their kits - 3" mandrel bends. Check out their website http://pypesexhaust.com/sounds-gm-abody.html
Thanks!

We put a 2.5" Piyes X system on Todd DeLamuca's Camaro......basically had to modify the whole deal. But he has a convertable... Not to say it didn't work when done. It did and sounds great!
On my own car, I used a DR Gas 3" X system with TA Performance 3" tail pipes.
Not sure what the designer of the tail pipes was thinking, but they would have hung down to the ground. I have a Nova BTW.
On my previous Chevelle, I used the Torque Tech tailpipes, and they fit well. We didn't like the output angles, but that's easy to fix.
Personally, I think the DR. Gas stuff fits well. It's not a bolt on deal though. Mate that with the Torque Tech tailpipes on your 70, do a little "tweaking" and you will have what you want. I never had any problems with things hitting. Just remember that the whole exhaust system will grow when it gets hot. Metal does that.

I helped a friend install a Torque Tech 3" system on his 70 455 Cutlass..everyhting fit like a glove,including the tailpipes.
I've also heard alot of good stuff about the Pypes systems too,but have never installed one.

I have a 70 LS5 with a 3" torque tech exhaust coming from 2" primary hooker super comps with 3.5" collectors, full tails (I got some killer stainless '70 3" tips I need to weld on!) anyway, I had an x put in but it was a tight fit and ended up costing about $400 all things said and done.
I installed the original torque tech exhaust myself and everything fit very well, if it wasn't for my 17*11's out back I wouldn't have even had to move or persuade an exhaust hanger.
Very quiet with the torque tech 20" case 3" offset/offset dynomax hemi super turbo mufflers, and I like it that way since now I can cruise around and not get a head ringer.
I need to stop reading this site until around may.. Its cold out and my driveway is about 1" of packed ice..

I have a 3.5 to 3" X-pipe with a Torque Tech 3" system w/flowmaster 30 series offset/offset mufflers. I modified the muffler hangers to fit the 3" mufflers. I used factory rear hangers and made my own flat style clamps. Fit great, no rattles sound nice.

I installed the 3 inch torque tech system on my 70 (when I had a 454 in it). The tailpipes fit great, but I had to work the head pipes to the mufflers a little. It was time consuming but a hacksaw and a friends welder did the trick. By the way my 2.5 inch system and dynomax mufflers is alot quieter than the 3 inch and dynomax mufflers was.
