Well, spring has sprung and it's time to resume project teXas! I'm getting ready to prepare and paint the frame and was going to go with a rust encapsulator method. The two I was looking at was POR-15 and Eastwoods brand chassis kits. Which one is best and what would I need to go from start to finish?

There are pages on this subject in the search form and the forum is divided on which product is best. Some swear by POR 15 and others hate it, Some love the Eastwood products and others would never use it on their car. I went with powder coating instead. Your choice.

I've used both POR 15 and Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. Of the two, I prefer POR 15. (After one peeling experience with Rust Encapsulator, I don't trust it anymore.) If applied properly and you get lucky, either can work as a base followed by a finish coat of something else.
Better yet, sandblast the frame well, then spray it with an epoxy primer, and follow that by something like Eastwood Chassis Black or another similar paint.

I agree.
sandblast or acid dip, spray gun with semi gloss black rustoleum. cheap and yields excellent results.

I know someone that only uses dp 90,epoxy primer. It is a semi flat black. 2 coats and your done. He applies it on blasted metal. I did my frame with por 15. It is holding up well. The sprayed epoxy looks way better. Next time around it will be the dp 90 for me.

I've used POR-15 and gotten both great and horrible results. Some parts came out great, and are still holding up today 5 years later.
On others, the stuff just would NOT stick and kept forming fisheyes. All parts were prepped the same.
I haven't used any Eastwood products, but I plan on trying there Chassis black.
Good luck.

I used rustoleum semi-gloss. Needs redone now, but it lasted eight years and the car was driven as a daily driver year round for four of them. The paint actually deteriated more the last two tears while the Elky sat in a storage lot. The way I see it being in my middle to late 50's I'll repaint and it will last longer than I'll probably be around, maybe with a touchup or two along the way!
