: Anyone dealt with UMI performance?
Junkyard Dawg Apr 20th, 07, 6:21 AM I bid/won 2 auctions of theirs....for a set of lower tubular control arms and a set of upper adjustable control arms. I pay by Pay Pal the next day (Apr 3.)
On Apr. 9 I sent an email just checking on the status. They said "their items were in high demand, please allow 5-8 buisness days delivery". They also told me they'd give a tracking number once it was shipped. Ok no biggie.
Wednesday night I sent another e-mail asking again for status. So far I've not heard back. I've yet received a tracking number. And it's been over 8 days.
Are they typically this slow?
I know some of you have their products, how long did it take you to get your stuff?
Thanks.

70_Malibu Apr 20th, 07, 8:11 AM Yup. 'Tis the season. I ordered uppers and lowers from them around this same time last year. Yes, they do take quite awhile getting to you this time of year. Also, when they finally arrived, they messed up my order and sent me the wrong color lowers, but they fixed the problem post haste. They seem to have good customer service. You do have to be patient, though.
The parts seem really decent, and appear to be worth the wait. I haven't really had a chance to thrash them yet, though.
Junkyard Dawg Apr 20th, 07, 12:03 PM Thanks Bill for the link. I hadn't noticed there was already a thread over it.
Trust me I am being as patient as I can, but IMO it shouldn't take anymore than a week and two at worst to square someone away.
On top of that I used paypal to pay for it, I took a gamble and for all I know what if they decided to skip town on me? Ain't gonna wait 3 months to file a claim if I don't have my stuff by then.
kacp-o Apr 20th, 07, 12:09 PM Agreed...I think their stuff is worth the wait. Took about 3 weeks for me to get my adjustable uppers and lowers, but they are definitely quality pieces.
70_Malibu Apr 20th, 07, 12:30 PM Dawg, it took me about a month to get mine, too. It's that time of year. You can't beat their prices and quality with a stick, though.
Trust me, they're not going anywhere on you.
Junkyard Dawg Apr 20th, 07, 5:09 PM I just checked their ebay feedback, seems they've had alot of issues with late shipping. Hopefully it's not much longer, just want to see how well my car performs with these and the new M/T ET radials.
dave_silva Apr 20th, 07, 5:59 PM I just dont get how someone can sell an item on ebay that is not in stock. I have heard of this several times, if you dont have the item I dont think you should be selling the item until you do.

Junkyard Dawg Apr 20th, 07, 9:50 PM Wow them stock control arms look trashed......
502scs how much better does your car perform with your UMI upper/lower control arms?
Does it hook any better than before?
Before you swapped did you have any swaying in the rear when you'd accelerate hard? If so did the UMI control arms cure it?
sschevellefan Apr 21st, 07, 12:21 AM I bought some UMI lowers for a old 89 mustang I had. took a month to get them. Their excuse was due to the powder coater. They kept giving me the run around. I did get them to refund the shipping as a good customer service jesture(spelling?). I would`nt buy from them again because as someone else noted, how can you sell something you don`t have? Too much hassle for anymore of my business.

Haha yea .. you saw the old parts it is like night and day!
The 396 does not have enough punch to test it real well but have a new motor in the works on the stand.
The car used to pull real hard to the side under even half load. Now strait as an arrow.

My car has the same issue, I can be cruising down the highway at 40 and nail it, feels like the car wants to sort of twist sideways, and knowing I have those cheap ass C channel stock style rear control arms that are 36 years old....perhaps they're the culprit.
Of course my 402 isn't necessarly a slouch either, especially when it pins you to the seat. ;)
502scs Apr 21st, 07, 10:24 AM Yea shame about mine they were the welded braced HD SS items but were rusted beond help. My car was scary before now it pulls strait and does not feel like it will head for the ditch when I stab it:D
UMI Performance May 3rd, 07, 12:49 PM Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the responses.
As noted many times by a few of you this is Race season. This is the time of the year where aftermarket business's go crazy... its almost like Christmas time to Walmart... if that makes sense to you.
Now we have done the best of our ability to make customers aware of the delay. It is posted on the front page of our site that orders will take addtional time right now and to please allow for the delay. If faster shipping is needed please contact us as stated on the site. I am not sure what else to do, if you call in and order we will tell you same thing, its also posted in all eBay ad's. I know some orders can go past the 6-8 business days but some are also quicker, but we are doing the best of our ability to make everyone aware of this and keep everyone happy.
What we would like for most to understand is we are a custom manufacture. These items are manufactured in a small plant by us, no robotics or over seas manufacturing. These items are all designed, built and hand crafted by us... we consider it custom work. If you would like to see some of the manufacturing process please check out the video section on the front page of our site.
If anyone needs order status or has a question regarding there order please contact us. I can't help on order or correct a problem if I am not aware of it.
Best Regards,
Ryan
UMI Performance May 3rd, 07, 12:53 PM I just dont get how someone can sell an item on ebay that is not in stock. I have heard of this several times, if you dont have the item I dont think you should be selling the item until you do.
We have posted in each eBay auction that the order will take 5-8 business days to process and ship it. It does not say "Item in stock and ready to ship" most of our items are built and sitting on the shelf, a good majority of them are powder coated as ordered, this is where a delay can come into factor. Since we offer two color options we have to becareful on what we coat what color. Some people are very picky on there color, some companies stopped offering color choices due to this reason and stick with a standard color to help process orders quicker.
Thanks,
Ryan
I put on new shocks at the same time as the rear control arms upper and lower. It is a whole different car. I have never been to the track so I cant tell you a difference there. The wait may suck but it will be worth it in the end. Just dont take your car apart yet or plan anything around getting the parts.
Next I need to rebuild my front end. I hope I see as big of a difference from that as I did from the rear.
Junkyard Dawg May 3rd, 07, 10:37 PM Yeah, after waiting for a month I just did get my UMI shipment in today. So far everything looks good, perhaps if this weekend works out I'll be installing them and then heading off to the track.
If they make the car handle any better I'll probably buy from them again in the future, but I've already decided if I do I'll order them well in advance when I won't be needing them for atleast a few months or so.
Oh, Ryan since you're posting here can you please tell me when a good time is to buy? Looks like the spring time is busy for you guys with the racing season opening up.
