Hey guys, Do you know if its ok to use aluminum fuel line for transmission cooler lines? I have a BTE cooler with AN fittings, and what I'd like to do is use 3/8 aluminum line from the trans to the cooler. Any problems with doing this? TIA!

Adam,

My only concern would be about mounting the aluminum line right to the transmission. Aluminum does have a finite lifespan when it comes to flexing. Engine torque twists the whole drivetrain. I would be afraid that overtime, vibrations and torque twisting would take it's toll on the line and develop a crack. I think if you used a flexible coupling at the transmission you would be safer.

And about the only thing worse than ATF for fires is gasoline. Spray finely atomized ATF on a hot exhaust manifold and see what happens!

Stay with steel, seamless tubing.

I would not use it myself. Why not just get some 6an line and run it to your cooler.

Aluminum line works fine.

AN lines with a rubber liner will swell and prevent any circulation.
