Hey guys, I've got a stock '75 350 4-bolt in my 66 with a 4-speed manual trans. This car is a daily driver and I just want more power to have fun with...I'm putting on an Edelbrock Performer and a 600cfm holley, it already has headers. My cam choice was a comp extreme energy cam: 268/280 dur, 477/.480 lift. Somehow I ended up with the next larger size: 274/286 dur, .487/.490 lift. Should I send it back or will the other one be better for my application? Also, is it worth spending $750 for a set of world S/R Torquer heads: do they really make that much of a difference in power?? Thanks for any answers... Chris

For about 100 more you can get the Dart Sportsman head. I have a set of each and I'm pleased for the most part. I'm running a 355 with the S/Rs, 282 solid cam, RPM intake and a 650 Holley in an 80 Camaro with a th350, 10" converter and a 3.90 gear. This car runs 7.80's on the 8th and its got more left in it. You may also want to check out the Vortec heads, they are a little cheaper.

Chris; Your stock compression is under 8:1,if it has the 76cc heads. If you upgrade to a 64cc chamber head(GM performance markets a nice .028" composition head gasket for under $30 a pair, and with 64cc chambers, will bump your compression to about 9.5:1),you could use the bigger cam,but if kept stock,I'd actually go with the XE262,or a similar grind. If you really want to stick with smaller cams it would be worth your time to check out the Vortec's.It would be my pick if I had to do it again.

Don't waste your money on S/R Torkers if you can get I.E's for 100 more.

I have the same thing you are talking about exept with a comp 270h it seems to run good and pull hard. I guess I shouldn't brag until I figure how to tune the sucker :D

I'm with 67chevy2.... too much cam, too little compression. Your DCR will be very low with that car in a stock engine, and you will lose all low end torque.

Hey cd66malibu,

I tried to e-mail you, but it bounced back as unknown. Drop me a line, I can save you a bunch on the World S/R's and mine are 67CC.

Thanks for all the info, guys. I'm out of town so I'm sorry about the delay... TPSHEA, I'll e-mail you about those heads when I get home and we'll see what we can come up with. I like 67chevy2's
advice about the 64cc heads and gaskets for better compession, sounds like the way to go... Talk to you guys later, Chris
