I was at the track on Sun. with my new combo for the first time.I was pleased with the results.
I ran a best of 12:55 @ 105mph.
60ft/ 1.88
1/8 8.42 @ 87.77.
My freind was there to video, and at the launch, there was some air under the fronts(about 1/2ft) and caried for 1-2 ft.anyway was hoping to get alittle more out of et and mph.
The mill is a 383,using a comp 292H cam
Avenger 770,T350,w/3400 stall,on D/R 275/15.
373's out back.My timing was set at 8deg with a total of 36 all in @ 2400rpm.Air cleaner in place and full exhaust.
Sorry for the long post.Just looking for a good starting point. Thanx in advance

Your numbers look skewed to me. The 8.42 in the eighth seems like it would lead to a low 13 second quarter-mile pass. In order to cover the final 660' in 4.13 seconds you would have to average 109 mph, which would raise your trap speed to near 120. Gotta typo?

Sorry redface.gif That would be 8.042 and 87.77 MPH.
Big boo-boo :D

Sounds better. Did you drive it out the back door? 17.3 mph gain in the last 660' looks to me like you're down on hp. With an 88 mph 1/8 speed I would expect something like 110-112 in the traps, especially with a 3.73 gear. Does it feel like it's laying down?

I guess I should have payed alittle more attention to details. But to be honest,it realy didn't feel like it fell over at all.My first thought was the fuel system. It has the stock lines then into -6 from the pump to the carb.Don't know if that would make a difference or not. Thanx

what was the fuel pressure crossing the stripe?
what cylinder heads do you have? do you think maybe the convertor was slipping a little too much on the high end?
first thing i would look into would be fuel pressure and volume, then maybe convertor or a trans slippage problem.
you got that much air under the tires with only a 1.88 60ft? i used to 60ft 1.50's in my car and only just barely lifted the driver's side front just enough to see day light under the tire.

Thanx for the replies.Don't know what the feul presure was at the end of the run.I have a small pres. gauge on the fuel line one the carb, and I notice that the pres. stays at around 6 when I goose the rpm's upward to around 4-5.
As far as the converter,It's 10" tree master,w/a 3400 stall.I doubt that it's slipping thru the traps.I didn't check my rpm thru, but I'm guessing that it was around 5 or so based on gearing and such.

Yes there was air under the tires. If I can figure out how to capture still photo on my cam,and how to get them on here ;) I'll post them.
