Is regular wire suitable for automotive purposes.
How about marine grade? I am having trouble finding 8 or 6 gauge automotive wire locally. Any ideas? substitute two 10's? Any ideas?

No,auto wire is higher temp and oil resistant. Also, don't sub two smaller wires for a larger size, this is always a no-no. Jegs has lots of coil wire from Painless. All sizes and colors. Also, American Autowire has wire to sell, along with a very good asortment of elecrical fittings.

Thanks Al. A friend told me NAPA had 8ga behind the counter in rolls. The trick was to convince them to actually look for it. He warned me and sure enough after some prodding they looked and there it was.
