I have been fighting this for awhile. When I get on it the exhaust gives off an white smoke or white/greenish color. I'm sure it is oil but the motor only has 5k on it. I have played with the jetting on the secondaries thinking that was it but it just isn't resolving it. The motor does drink a bit of oil. I'm fearing the chromoly rings haven't and won't ever completely set. I was thinking the secondaries were washing the rings out. The motor only does this when you give it hell which is not often. It runs good and I have no complaints in the performance area. It is a 406sb 10.1 approx compression static with afr 195's 64cc , 1.6 rollers rockers, 292 cam 244@50 with lc 108 and 535 lift int/exh.(that includes what the rockers add). Holley 750dbl/pump on a rpm performer manifold. Rear end is posi 3.73 gear 12bolt with a m-21 4spd. 3" exhaust all the way from hooker super comp headers with flowmaster mufflers. Any thoughts?

Well here is the best answer I can give. If I don't get on it the car really won't burn any oil. If I go out and have some fun it will burn a quater to a full quart of oil on a tank of gas. Now my dad is half owner of the car and if I'm watching him get on it I don't notice so much but if you in the car there can be a small oil smell. The engine is brand new and halls butt minus this issue. We initially thought it was the jetting and due to other issues we had changed the jetting last spring. This was because of putting a new set of afr heads on the car. That issue has been resolved and the headers don't glow anymore(lean mixture with new heads). I would hate to tear the the bottom end out and change the rings.

Unfortunately you can't tell if the rings are installed upside down. I think it's the second rings job to scrape oil away from the combustion chamber on the down side of the stroke. If one or more rings are upside down they would be pulling oil up.
