: Found gasket that will block exhaust port in head / intake

A few weeks ago I posted asking if anyone knew of an intake gasket set that had a complete exhaust port block off plate, not just the restrictor with a hole. I remembered using one about 15 years ago and after calling all of the local parts stores I contacted several of the gasket plants. Victor Reintz makes a nice set that I picked up at Car Quest. The part number is: MS15219BF You may not want to use this if you plan to run a carb with a choke spring that sits on the intake, however.

Were these SB or BB gaskets? What are the port sizes?

Felpro #1204 (I think it's that one, maybe 1206) has completley blocked port. Problem is they are a "hard" blue gasket and have a hard time sealing aluminum intakes. However if you use some gasket tack on both side you shouldn't have any problems, or atleast I never have on the last 5 or 6 intakes I have done.

1204s aren't the hard blue "permatorque" gaskets that cause problems. 1204s are black with raised blue beads around the ports.

Hmm maybe it's the 1206 then. But with gasket tack all the problems go away.

1204, 1205, 1206 are all printoseals not hard blue permatorque gaskets. They work fine with aluminum manifolds. Which have the riser blocked, I don't know.

These are for small block heads and as opposed to the felpros, these actually have a stainless insert that blocks the hole as opposed to regular gasket material that will burn through. I called felpro, spoke with one of their tech guys, and they do not have anything that will withstand the heat.

Ok I know for sure Felpro makes a blue gasket with a steel insert. I have 4 used ones sitting in my garage right now. They have 90322-1 stamped on them.

Make your own block offs. It's easy. A pop can works as a source of metal.

That's it I give up. I can't find anything on the net. I am calling the parts shop tomorrow and getting the number.

Pat,
Pretty sure the 1204 is the permatorque hard gasket not the printoseal type.
It is a repackaged MS90322 I believe which is the small block gasket set for a propane engine & has a stainless insert in the center.
The only difference between the two gaskets is the price ;)

You might be right, Mike. I though all the 12xx gaskets were printoseals but I guess not.

So did I until I spent almost twice as much for the same gasket I had been using for years in a different package graemlins/clonk.gif

That plate looks exactly like the Victors. How old are those gaskets? I rember seeing some like that many years ago by Felpro but they claim that don't make them anymore.

Did you happen to read my post above?
That is the 1204 FelPro if you want to spend a little more for it & say you bought "performance" gaskets.
Or the MS90322 I belive is the set number if you prefer to spend a little less for the same ones.

Again, it was orginally for small block propane applications.

Those gaskets are only 2 months old, and I just bought another set less then a month ago. If any body cares I know Felpro lists the MS90322 for a 1975 Chevy PU with a 350, LPG engine as Wolfplace mentioned.

Felpro #1204 is a blue permatorque intake gasket with a completley blocked heat crossover. I went to my local speedshop and they have 3 sets in stock.
