Just curious how much HP difference there is when using exhaust cutouts. Currently have a 2 1/2 inch using Flowmasters. HP rating now is around 500
If I add electric cutouts and open them up, any idea how much performaance there would be in either acceleration or HP ? I would be using them on the street and occasionally open them up.

You may or may not gain any power, depending on the physics of your exhaust system. It will be louder and will sound faster, though.

it just depends on your combo. at the race track i have seen on my cars about .10 to .15 seconds faster with out exhaust verses with exhaust on a low 12's ride.using 2 1/2" exhaust.

i have also ran cars in the mid 14's with exhaust hooked up and just uncorking the headers have had gains of 4 tenths drop in e.t. because the exhaust was small and very restrictive.

other racers who use cut outs have seen 2 or 3 tenths .

i would say you would see a difference but if you allready have a good exhaust system it would be less of a difference. may not be worth the cost of buying high dollar cut outs.....like the electric ones.

I have a 350 @.040 over and it picks up some permormance at the track. I have long tube headers w/ 2 1/2" exhaust going to flowmaster 40 series 2 chambers and dumps. I still pick up a couple tenths at the track. Race @ Speed World in Orlando all the time.
