Have been working on this issue for a month now. Would not honk. I have replaced the steering wheel and contacts, horn relay and horn. When attachng the horn relay today, I noticed the horn harness was not hooked up to the old relay . When I replaced the new relay and hooked the battery back up, guess what................the horn honks all the time now!!!. Where do I start? I am about ready to keep a can of air on an air horn next to me on the seat for a horn

What did you do to get it to blow? I am working on a 64 with the issue of it not working at all. I have replaced all of the things that I know. All new wiring, new turn signal switch and tested horns, new horn relay, and still nothing. I have seen some other post with your same problem. I thought you might help me. I will look back through the archive to see if I can find the post I seen earlier today with the same problem that you have.

look at the rag joint.there is a copper ground between the bolt and the pin that breaks over a long time, thats what grounds the shaft so the horn works.

Ron,
I couldn't find the right parts for the factory horn contact inside the steering column so I ordered a Grant Steering Wheel. Still had to get some small parts from Allyears to complete the steering column contact. Replaced the horn and horn relay. When I was removing the old horn relay I noticed the horn connection was unplugged (something I had previously overlooked). After hooking it all back up, I now have sound...........and lots of it...............just have to unplug the horn relay to get it to stop. Will keep you apraised of the progress.

Mino,
Just where do you look to find this rag joint? Remember........my horn works great now............just can't get it to shut off .

between the rag joint and the shaft at the steerin box. remove the 2 nuts that couple them together and pry them apart enough to peek in between them.

Mino,
Maybe I'm missing something. If this part you're talking about is broken and not making ground........the horn does not work, right? Well my problem is the horn will not shut off. Brand new horn, relay and steering wheel. I think I will look at the steering wheel internals first.
Thanks,
Ken
