Whats the best way to take dents out of the roof where the metal seems thin?
The dents are about as big as your palm and about 3/16 deep.
I think I read where someone said use heat.
Thanks for any help

I don't think you are going to run out in the garage and shrink you roof. But DON'T DO THAT. The dents you have are right around the outer edges right? There is a low spot but if you look at the outer edge of the dent you will see a "brow" or "crown". This is a high spot. If you apply pressure to the low spot with a soft dolly or even the palm of your hand, you can tap down the brow with a nice flat hammer and bring up the low spot. The metal is not stretched, it is just "displaced" into the brow.

MARTINSR,
Where in the bay are you located? Curious if you do work still or just your own restos. I see the S.F. which is where I work and if you are at a shop or own one I would love to stop by and say hello. im learning more than I can handle from reading your posts.

Marauder, I do this every day at work. I work at a very large shop here in Fremont and have my two on going projects my '65 Gran Sport Convert, and a '72 VW bug, (yeah that's right, don't laugh) And my '48 Chevy pickup that I have had for 18 years is sitting in the back yard, hope to get to it some day.
