I just noticed tonight after I put different exhaust on that my headers are now glowing when I rev the car or hold it at part throttle.I have an 850 double pumper and wanted to know I should change jets or should the idle mixture screws take care of the problem.or both.

might need to advance your timing. This is usually caused by spent fuel completing combustion in the header. Its usually slow timing ect.

Fatten it up. What jets are in it now? Its lean.

A normal 850 double pumper usually has #80 jets.

Yes,both retartded inittial timing & lean jetting can cause the headers to get hot enough to gloe red.
If running an aftermarket perf cam try approx 16-18 deg btdc inittial timing.
Also, what cam, motor setup(heads/comp/intake,etc) your running along with what jets are in the carb?

thanks the timing was retarded.bumped up timing and seems o.k.

If you are running a roller cam and using a bronze gear, and you haven't checked your timing for a while, and your headers are glowing, it means your bronze gear has worn out and has retarded the timing. Guess how I know?

Aaron, just curious, what was the initial timing before and then after you advanced it ?
This is so others here in T/C can see just how much the retarded initial timing affected your motor temps and how much advancing the initial timing when running an atermarket perf cam corrected the red hot header issue you were having.

I agree timing is probably off and carb is way too lean.
