I want to rewire the chevelle. I have been looking at the painless wiring kit from summit. Any suggestions. Is painless good or bad, are there any other wiring kits to recommend??

American Auto Wire has a great product and service, plus they participate here on the site. :)

I used Enos to re-wire my 66. I think it is a very small shop in CA.

The kit was easy to use, I received good instructions and I phoned him a few times during the re-wire job and he was very helpful.

Good guy and I recommend him

I used American Autowire Highway 22 kit. I liked how the fuse panel mounted flat and all the wires went into the side of pasnel . Their wires are all labeled every 6 inches with the items name. I stripped my '65 and went from headlights to taillights, with all new wires. The AA kits also come complete with a new headlight switch, dimmer and ignition switch. Also, consider buying their grounding kit, very complete. Most elecrical problems are usually caused by poor grounds. I also mounted my fuse panel on the firewall on the right side. This way I sat on the seat and worked thru the glove box door, rather than trying to work under the steering column. The give you MORE than enough wire to do this, it sure made life easier. After about 500 feet of wire, I only had two small problems to trouble shoot. Take your time and work on one circuit at a time. Good luck.

m&h make easy to install harnesses that fit like original. they are good with answering any questions you have also. painless wiring kits can be a pain in the but if you've never done one before as they require A LOT more time sorting everything out.

Another positive vote for Painless. I've got the forward lamp and engine wire harness from them and it is an exact fit. Nice detail and all the connectors fit.
