I would like to know what are the correct seat belts for a 1972 SS Convertible Chevelle. In 1972 do the front seat belts have a wire connection to them? Is the size of the buckle part of the front seat belt different than the back seat belt? Did seat belts change from a 1971 Chevelle to a 1972 Chevelle?

The '71 and '72 belts are not the same. The '72 has the shoulder belt hooking into a "keyhole" slot on the outboard lap belt while the '71 has separate belts.

Yes the 72 belts have a wire connector on them. it is for the seatbelt warning buzzer in the dash just above the lighter. 72 was the first year for seat belt warning in the chevelle.
