Well, I just dropped off my son's 66 Chevelle at the body shop. Now I need to find a hood. He likes the idea of a fiberglass latching hood with a 2" cowl on it. I visited Unlimited's factory this morning, and left with the decision their products are not what we are looking for. So, does anyone know where I might find something like this? I've already tried Harwood's web site, and they don't have a listing for this model....Otherwise, it's repop steel time... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif Thanks for any input that you can give me.

Bob, I don't know if your Son had his heart set on fiberglas, but I hear that Goodmark will be releasing a steel 2" cowl hood for the 66 in the near future. You may want to check with them.

I'd go with steel if it's available. There's also steel cowl scoops available for $150. The ads are in the back of most magazines. (CHP, Car Craft, PHRodding, HOT ROD)
If you want to make your own....
About 5 years ago, when 66 hinged cowl hoods weren't available, I made my own. I bought a 4" lift off cowl hood. I took my stock 66 steel hood and separated it in half. Ground off the edges and removed some of the seam sealer in the center section. I also separated the fiberglass hood by gringing the under supports.
I then epoxied the top fiberglass piece to the steel under piece. It opened and closed like a stock hood and looked factory from underneath. The factory insulation hid the fiberglass. Worked well.
