Looks like a 65/very early 66 Fremont body plate blank. Looks like ACC. in the bottom left corner. Surely doesn't look like any other 68 tag I've seen, Baltimore or not. Where did it come from?

Right hand drive? Then the car was built for export? Cool! Have any photos of the car, especially the interior and engine?

I'll ask my buddy to email me some pics. It was converted to RHD not built RHD But may have been exported as a "knockdown" (no dash or firewall) There was a couple of engineering companies here that were licence by GM back in the 60s and 70s and that's all they did, but they're nearly all gone now (laws changed) except a couple of corvette and mustang guys that just do late model stuff now.

Photos of it would be neat to see. A gentleman here on TC from Australia some time back had a 67 SS with RHD.

Looks very familiar Dale, I sold that car in 2002 and yes sadly I still regret it
I'll post pics of my buddy's 68. done by the same conversion company.
It's had one repaint 10 years ago but that's it, it's so nice, it's hard to beleive it's original.

Very cool "anychevy" thanks for sharing.

I would say because it was in export is why the tag looks so different. That's why I asked if it was RHD.

I'd like to see pics too.

Also, the "bang boxes" were special to RHD too.

That's my guess on the tag, although there are a few here from 67 to 69 but I've never seen a tag like that before. The Canadian full size chevy's and Pontiacs sold here have Holden trim tags, but that's a different story.
"bang box" ?

bang box = 4 speed

bang box = 4 speed
same box and shifter as LHD but clutch is hydaulic not linkage.

hydraulic?

it was my understanding the bracket holding the shifter was different. I thought muncie built these special for export cars

now I got to go some digging :D

Only full size cars were sold here factory RHD and 99% auto. With the exception of some column shift. Most 4 speed A and F body cars were converted in the 60s and 70s by discarding the clutch linkages, moving the peddle box and column over and converted the whole setup to hydraulic, mainly because the clutch fork was on the left of the bell housing, shifter remained the same.

That tag is similiar to the one on a 68 Camaro RS/SS I have. The general consensus when I was asking about it on Camaros.net is that it was an export tag. Mine also has a second tag with the GM conformance statement.

That seems to be the only explanation ? I'm still trying to get pics of the car.

Neat car! I remember in the mid '80s that the NCOA mag had a gent from AUS with a RHD El Camino. I think it was a '69. Very cool as well.

BTW, the extra lights on the '68...added on later or required by the country the car was in and installed at the factory?

Added by the dealer (Holden) for licencing requirements when new.

the little yellow lights -- what do they do? hazard flasher only? turn signals?
What is (can you post) part number on the lights?
Great looking car.

They were for turn signals and hazzards and used to be required by law, same as RHD.
Now these vehicles are exempt from Australian design rules we don't need them anymore.
They used to run a new brake light wire from the switch and convert the left and right flasher directly the orange indicators (they're not a GM part)
I've converted back to stock more old US cars than I can remember.

:)Shame I couldn't get more info on the car. Those were the only two photos I could come up with and wish I had more. I just really love the unique things done to Chevelles when being exported such as the right-hand-drive conversions, speedometer in KPH, the long bed El Camino on here not too long ago, etc. :D

I wish the tag would get posted again though.
