On the inside of the door panel is there a reinforment brace for the passenger side door mirror?
my attach point for the mirror is loose so the mirror is dangerously close to falling off. It appears the previous owner just used sheet metal screws to attach it to the door skin.

An Oldsmobile is a Chevy with lock-washers(and more torque)

On my '70 sheet metal screws are the type used. If the holes ar too large, try going to the next size screw, or, try drilling a new holes very close to the old ones. Only other solution is to used screws and nuts to hold the bracket on, but you'll have to take the inside door panel off to do that. Good luck!
