Hello i currently have a pg but would like to bolt in a th350 to have some fun for now. I dont want to break my original parts. Am i correct to say a short shaft 350 will directly bolt into place. I dont have a lot of hp or tq so a basic th350 will work. I am looking through the local paper and i see a few th350 for sale. What i would like to know is what to look for to get a reliable used th350. Also would my pg torque converter work on a th350. Any help would be appreciated

Should bolt right up in place of the PG. If you are currently column shift you can buy a bracket ($15) from True Connections. This will allow your retain all your PG linkage, however you won't be able to manually shift the trans to 1st. You will need to hook up the kickdown from the T350, should be cable operated whereas the PG is a mechanical linkage. Transmission cooler lines will work but need to be tweaked to fit. I dont think you will be able to us the PG glider but I could be wrong.

I'd check the fluid of the trans, should be pink and also should not smell burnt. Other than that just give it a good visual inspection for cracks and wear and tear.

how do i hook up the kickdown, and how do i get to the fluid of the trans?

Hopefully you'll get lucky as I did and the t350 will still have the kickdown cable and mounting bracket. Bracket should have (2) holes that bolts it down to the drivers side of the intake manifold. The cable then bolts up to the kickdown linkage on the side of your carb., you have to do a search on how to adjust it properly.

If you looking at a used trans sitting on the ground, best thing to do is take the dipstick tube out and drop the eraser of a pencil down into the fluid, wipe on a white cloth/rag/papertowl and check the color. Fluid should be pink/light red...if its starting to brown it might be burnt or just in need of a change.
