: fenders for '65

Doe anyone make fenders for 1965's, or am I going to have to look for someone parting out a car? I am looking for a drivers side only.

I have checked ground up and some of the other parts sellers, and they only go back to 1966 or 1967.

If I have to go with a used fender, are there any things I have to watch out for? What is a good place to look for ads, other than here?

I know new fenders go for around 300$ to 500$, what is a good price for a used one?

Thanks,

Try John's Salvage in Seguin, he only has older cars - and might have many to pick from. I was quoted 150 per fender for a 69 Chevelle.

His number is 830-379-2092

If you wanna make a run down there - let me know, I'd be willing to look around.

Goodmark - Dynacorn - Sherman

These are the basically the main sheet metal manufacturers, in order of quality.
http://www.goodmarkindustries.com - They're the best, lots of GM Licensed parts.
http://dynacorn.com - (Wholesale only) - Below Goodmark, but above Sherman. Decent parts, but not outstanding.
http://shermanparts.com/ - Crash parts. The bottom barrel but will suffice it's the only option. Be ready for some extra body work.

If these people don't have 'em, it's not being reproduced.

thanks for the replies.

I gave john's salvage a call yesterday. He is supposed to give me a call if he has any. jrb56, I will let you know if I have any luck with him.

I tried the manufacturers listed, but none have anything earlier than '66 fenders. I guess I will have to locate some used ones.

Untamo, did you mean that Sherman also sells used parts, or that they are just low quality and therefore will need to be touched up? I only saw references to new parts.

They sell only new, but they're "Crash parts." Super budgett replacement's of, IMO, barely acceptable quality parts. Some cases they're fine, most they're not.

I e-mailed goodmark re '65 fenders. Not enough demand to justify the expense of gearing up for production was their reply.

65 Fenders are getting really hard to find in decent condition. Been there done that.
Even the salvage places are in shortage of the Beautiful Inbetweener. Like JJ65 stated, theres just not enough demand to be cost effective to produce. I bought 3 used drivers side fenders until I got one that I was satisfied with, and its still not the best.I figured since they are so scarce ( especially the driver side) I'll hold on to the ones that I didn't use. Maybe help out a fellow 65 owner one day. Every once in awhile you'll come across a NOS fender for a rediculous price. But, it all depends on what you want.

I am supprised that goodmark has no plans to produce 65 fenders. I see that they are reproducing 66 and 67 fenders now. I can't believe that 65 fenders are less in demand than 66 fenders. Hopefully someone will see that there is a demand for 65's and start making them pretty soon.

As far as what I want, I would love to find an NOS, but I would settle for about anything right now. I would prefer to find some without rust, but dents are OK.

Since my car is a daily driver, I am looking into any options that will get me back on the road quickly. I am seriously considering looking for a parts car or even trying to graft some 64 fenders on it if nothing comes up soon.

BAD415, email me if you decide to sell any of your spares. Right now, i'd settle for anything that doesn't have a hole big enough to fit a bowling ball through (like my present ones).

Thanks,

for some reason 66's and 67's seem to be plentful, thus a bigger demand for re tooling. The 64's and 65's have been treated like the redheaded stepchild.
pluss add the fact a vast majority were used up in late model roundy round racing.
littler cas with full frames that came from the factory with V8's = high ussage.
GL on your quest.
