What are the basic steps (prepwork included) to get a nice paint job? As far as i kno, its metal, few coats of primer, and paint... How dumb, i know, but id really like to learn. I know its something I could get good at and thats why i want to try. Ive heard of epoxy primers, etching, color sanding, etc... alot of stuff.. But whats a simple process for a nice (amateur) paint job that would get me on the right track? Single or double stage? Primers? Etching (whatever that is?) color sanding (is that the same as wetsanding the final coat or just the BC... and then the CC)... any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bubba

I think it would be beneficial that you do a search on here and just read, read, read. There is a lot of info on here. There are plenty of books available also.

you should do what my dad and I are doing. We are going into an auto body class at a college near I live and we are going to learn the basics on how to prep a car. Welding, Sanding, Cutting, Block Sanding and etc. Can't wait for the course to start. Doesn't start till sometime in november though...
