Anybody had any experience with getting a water pump rebuilt? I've got the original pump off my 70 SS 396, but it needs to be rebuilt. Parts places say they'll send it in to wherever they get their rebuilt pumps from, and I'll get it back in a month or so, but I'd be more comfortable if I could get a kit or find a place locally that rebuilds water pumps. Northwest Illinois. I figure if I had a kit, most machine shops should be able to press bushings, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get a Hemmings motor news and look in services performed, should find something in there, L89SEDAN

Jim, you can do this if you have access to a press. Otherwise do or go wherever you have to and find a pump rebuilder. I'm not a numbers matching or an originality person, but I am a 100% believer in those people who are.FIND A REBUILDER AND SAVE THIS PUMP!
