Hi i currently have a 68 chevelle and its got black paint i have no idea what kind of pain it is. It looks really good, it has a nice mirror finish and is really smooth. I was wondering i have no experience with any seroius body work but weather it would be possible to achieve a good finish if i started with bare metal and did everthing myself?? is painting that hard, if i use a laquer pain? and help would be aprreciated

No matter what kind of paint you have on the car now, it must be stripped to bare metal if you want any quality at all in your restoration. NEVER use laquer for any reason on outer body panels.
