I have the underside of my body sandblasted and I am ready to prime and finish. There was very little rust under there and after blasting it looks brand new. I am thinking of priming and painting with gm chassis paint. I have the frame done with the gm paint and it looks great. Is there a better process for this or am I on the right track.

I would prime with either epoxy or etch then apply a SS urethane topcoat. Is that GM stuff an enamel product, does it require a hardner? If so urethane would be a better and longer lasting product to apply.

My plan is to use the self etching primer and then the gm chassis paint. I'm not sure if it is enamel. My friend who is doing the body work and painting painted the frame and suspension so I'm not sure about the paint. He is tied up for about a week so I want to finish this up. I just checked on the car yesterday and he went ahead and finished the sand blasting sometime last week and the results were incredible. I have never seen a car this old in this kind of shape. I really lucked out with this one. The gm paint is a semi gloss will this work for the fire wall also? I still have a half of a gallon of this stuff so I would like to use it if it will work

The chassis black I'm familiar with is a ready to spray enamel. If you're going to drive this car and durability is a concern I would use a single stage urethane with flattener added for the satin look that you're after. If this is going to be a trailer queen then the chassis black should be ok. JMO, Bob
