: Installing inner fenders with front clip on?

I've installed and now removed the plastic inner fenders on my '69, and plan to put new metal ones in. I don't want to take the fenders off, just stick the inners in through the wheel openings.

It worked fine with the plastic ones, but I'm afraid the steel ones won't flex enough to get them in place.

Has anyone tried this before? How well did they fit?

If I can't do it, I'll just re-use my plastic ones.

I just put steel ones on mine with the front fenders on. They were easier than the plastics I tried because they actually fit http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gifThey had a lot more flex then I thought they would. The only scratches I had were a couple of minor ones on the frame. Dennis

Derek you will have no problem installing them with the fenders on the car. I would prefit them to the fender and support first if you plan on painting them. I bought goodmarks and just had to slightly enlarge two holes. I have a number of a guy in Minn somewhere that has a pair of NOS 69 fenders and inners for sell. Drop me aline if you want that number...Eric

I put new Inner wheel wells in my 71 with the fenders on.The trick is to get it done with no scratches, since I blasted and painted them first. I put a sheet over it until it was in position then slid the sheet out and bolted it up. Just don't use a good sheet like I did because it might rip on a sharp edge and that seemed to get my wife upset for some reason.I thought it was a small price to pay for an unscratched fender well...Bill

Eric, this is for my daily driver... NOS = not cheap.

Any idea what he wants for them? I may be interested for my SS project that I haven't started working on yet.
