What is correct for the 1970 side post battery cable routing?

Positive:

Through clip on 2nd front bolt in oil pan, above or below fuel pump to carb fuel line?

Negative:

Side of Block above fuel pump or alternator bracket?

If alternator bracket, is it star washer, then cable, then heater hose bracket?

Negative Cable through the wire tie bundle on the heater hoses or free?

I beleve my 69 was to the side of the block for the negative but I'm thinking 1970 may be the alt. bracket.

Thanks in advance.

My 70 built the third week of Dec. 69 has the neg. going to the block.
The pos. goes through a clip on the front of motor mount, then between the mount and oil pan to the starter.

The clip on the oil pan is for the tranny lines.

Negative battery cable attachment depended on which out of 2 different part # cables your car had. If you have a build sheet and your negative cable was coded FV then it attaches to the cylinder head. If you have a PE code cable it was attached to the upper alternator bracket. Complete part #s were 8901358 FV and 8901637 PE for negative cables and 8901624 NG for the positive. From looking at lots of different buildsheets there is a pattern seen as to which plants used either cable primarily for negative applications while all cars received the same positive regardless of assembly plant.

Well Good, if there's confusion as to which attaching point is correct then mine will stay on the head because it's much cleaner and the reproduction cables appear too short for a proper route to the alternator bracket.

If somebodies knowledgable enough to look at my assembly plant from the VIN and determine which cable should be correct based on cowl build date
then he'd likely find one or two other things incorrect which would likely distract him from even noticing the cables. :)

First I've ever heard or seen of a retaining clip on the motor mount though.

I have a clip ordered from ground up that I thought I remembered correct when I researched my 69 and thought it connected to the second bolt on the oil pan. It is a wide clip (1/2") which is far too wide for the auto cooling lines and appear correct for the thickness of a battery cable. ????

More information on this motor mount cable clip?

Wow, I kept getting an error message that Chevelles.com was too busy to use right now and kept hitting the post submit button afterwards.

Where's the duplicate post warning within 5 minutes when you need it. :)

I swear it wasn't the Jack and Cokes. :)

My Leeds built '70 ls6 has the motor mount clip, but no oil pan clip.I believe that the reproduction clip does not look the same as the original.
