I am in the middle of restoring my interior and I found three small rust holes in my floor board. I don't want to replace the whole panel if possible and I don't have access to any welder. Any suggestion on sheet metal repairs.
I was thinking about using some kevlar mesh I have and apoxy over that and then Por-15 a day later. I would only have to make the patch approximately 1.5 inches square and I would do top and bottom of the panel. Suggestions?

If your going the POR route.. Why don't you try POR Putty? I hear it's good! Your suggestion sounds good too. However, make sure you get as much of the rust as possible.

You could get the Por floor repair kit, or for a whole lot less money, order the fiber mesh, Por Putty, and some silver Por 15 seperately. Just clean the area real good with a wire brush attachment on a grinder or drill. Then put a piece of masking on the bottom side of the hole. Wet the area down with the silver Por and put a small piece of fiber mesh down if needed. If it's one or two holes, I don't even think you'll need the cloth. Once the Por has dried, fill the hole with Por Putty, level the surrounding area. Sand it smooth when it dries and top it off with another coat of silver Por. After that, you're ready to start installing the carpet.

Only an eighth of an inch? Sounds like factory cream-puff to me! I got holes so big you could drop a basketball through them, so I got me some galvanized ductwork and pop rivetted it in. Primed and painted it with Rustoleum oil based enamel....looks slammmin'! Little bit of spray can rubberized undercoating on the exterior and she'll last another 40 years. G'day!....out http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Ok, I'm gonna go with the repair method of my kevlar mesh and the Por-15. I wanted to re-assure myself that would not just be a temp fix. Thanks
