I was wondering if anyone knows the code or anything about that white paint that is used on some older Chevy truck bumpers. I need some of this paint for another project and I have a few questions.

* Is this flat or semi-gloss paint?
* What is the name of the paint?
* What are the codes for the paint companies (Ditzler, Rinshed-Mason, DuPont, etc.)so I can get some of it?

Also, where is a good place to get paint on something matched? I've heard that they have paint matching machines now that they can put on a painted surface and get a match from there.

Shawn, I think they were code 11 for years. I don't know which year you are working on, but most all paint companies have "tech lines" where you can get the info you need.
I am pretty sure there wan't a specific code, domestic manufacturers didn't code things like that untill the late seventies or even the eighties.

Our Chevy company trucks have all been the same color since back in the 70's, frost white and the bumpers where the same color as the trucks until the 82 models when chrome front bumpers were standard.

What I'm painting is the bumper on that utility trailer I've been talking about. That's got a white bumper so I figured it's the same kind of white. Also, the reason I need a color match is so I can get paint for the main part of it (the 1960's light blue).
What I plan on doing is sprucing the whole trailer up with chrome here and there so it can be a show piece along with the El Camino 20+ years http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif from now when I am finished and can bring it to a car show. Also, on the trailer would be my restored 1967 Sears lawn tractor. Kind of an era correct thing.

The white on all GM trucks, bumpers, wheels, and mirrors, is code 11.
Any paint supplier can mix this color in any brand.
