I cleaned the undercoating off my 66 gas tank. I've sprayed it with some etch primer, I plan to spray on Eastwoods tank tone, can this be applied over primer? Now, how do I fix the dents in the bottom? I could just fill them in with plastic filler, but before I do, does anyone have any tricks? One dent is about 2" wide x 6" long x 1/8" deep (more of a flat scrape). The other is about 1" in dia x 1/4" deep.
BTW, I'm not drilling holes in this thing to pull the dents.

I dont know about the etch prime and eastwood paint being compatible but as far as the dents go can you make a long pick to pry out the dents. Just fish it through the neck and massage out the dented area, this is what the paintless dent removers use...Eric

i have and would use a pin welder. if you dont know what that is, it spot welds a pin to the metal, then you use a dent puller to pull out the dent in as many places as necessary. then you just twist the pins off. no holes. it works great. yeah yeah make sure all gas and feums are out of the tank first. i know people are going to jump all over that point.

Yeah, I'd use a pin welder, but I can't see forking over the $300 odd dolars to get one for 2 dents.
I think I'll just fill them.

I'd just put about a quart of fuel in it and throw a match in her, woof... straighten it right out http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif
No, J/K I'd agree on a Stud-gun to remove dents in fuel tanks, I've done several with good results. And YES make sure the tank in clean/clear of fuel and dry, baffeled tanks makes this more difficult. Mabey a local shop would do it for you or loan / rent you the tools.
