Does anybody make resonators for dual exhaust system Chevelles for the 1970-1972 era? I think the origional numbers for the tail pipes was 3973857 & 3973858. Not sure if the tail pipe was welded on and came as one unit or not. The resonators were shaped like a small bullet style straight-through muffler and were not canister shaped. I have herd that Corvair mufflers will work, but don't know for sure.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Fatrat720

Bob, many places including our sponsor Ground Up sells dual exhaust systems with resonators.
If you have deep pockets, Gardner exhaust sells the best.

Gardner Exhaust for sure, but entire systems only. Don't know about resonators only.

I checked with GroundUP on-line, they do not offer resonators for a 1972 454.
Thanks
I am not sure if 72 used a resonator or not..but if they did Gardener has the system. Absolutely perfect factory correct systems. Not cheap, but very very nice!!! I have used three systems on my own cars and have one now for another perseon who has their car in my shop.

Is it possible to "make" your own resonators by getting a pair of the dynomax bullet glass pack style mufflers and putting them at the near end of the tail pipe?

My muffler guy used small glasspack type mufflers as resonators on my '68 Caprice. I duplicated the exhaust using a pic from the assy manual and it looks perfect, sounds good too.

I know once I got annoyed at my droning Flowmaster so I shoved an old glass pack in the end of it....it really shut it up....
