years ago when i was in high school my car still had drum brakes on all 4 corners. after many problems with wheel cylinders and frustration of readjusting them all the time, i began looking for a cheap alternative. i found a friend who had a 76 malibu in his back yard which i got the complete front disc brake set-up off of for $40. after much frustration in making the spindles fit my car, i realigned it and have been happy with the cheap disc brake swap since. only thing is the spindle is quite a bit taller than my stock ones were (which ive heard is good) and it took quite a few shims in order to get my alignment back right. well my question is with my old set-up when the suspension was unloaded the wheels cambered in and the tires would point outward, whereas with my set-up now they do the exact opposite (postive camber and tires point at each other. should i consider this bad?

Yep, but not for that reason. There are many reasons using the 73-77 "A" body spindles are bad, the camber gain issue however is the one and only positive attribute.

so what are the bad reasons?

Do a search for "tall spindles", I'm pretty sure thats is what your swap is. If not someone will correct me, or your search will point it out to you. I think the tall spindles increase bump steer (hit a rock and steering wheel turns), but if you live with it and don't mind it then maybe you should leave it alone.
