Subject: Replacing 1968 2-Door Chevelle frame.
I've read several posts, but have not located an answer for this question: IF a 1968 - 1972 4-door frame IS longer, can it be shorten under the rear of front seat area by 4" and will fit my 2-door body? A local fellow who deals has dealt with Chevelle since 1980 claims he has succeeded in shortening a 4-door frame and installing it under a 2-door car, but I have doubts about his claim... can ANYONE help please confirm that modifying a 4-door frame(shortening it) will work? THANKS for any/all replies!!!

Yes, if shortened properly, in the correct areas, it will work. Not sure where it's longer though...

I'm trying to locate a decent frame to have galvanized... can't find any 2-door 68 - 72 frames in Upper SC. worth using... also, when a frame is galvanized...is the company suppose to chemically remove all the rust and then galvanize it or will the frame need to be sand blasted first?

The galvanizing process will remove all the rust, etc. No need to do anything to it first.

While your guy is shortening the frame, go to www.einstyn.com - take a look at the frame mods he's done - they are worth doing to any frame IMO.

Alabama to SC is not that far of a drive. You just have to cross 1 maybe 2 states ;)
