I use 3M Imperial hand glaze followed by a coat of Mother's pure carnuba wax.Mother's Clay Bar system works well also.I've heard some really good reviews about a synthetic wax called Zaino.

Do just that....clean it....Wax it. You would be surprised how many guys just show up and it's obvious all they did was run the garden hose over their car and wipe it dry!
Vacuum the interior, no coolers in the trunk or back seat, Armorall the tires, get those bugs outta the Radiator...all the common sense stuff that some guys just seem to forget about....PRESENTATION is everything!!
I use MEGUIARS Products alot. I wipe down all my hoses in the engine compartment, I use newspaper on my glass ( no fuzzies), and have fun!

I have shown my 65 Vette in Shine & Shows and have always either taken 1st or 2nd place in my class by just following a few “tricks” that Shine & Show judges look for.
The key is cleanliness. The judges look for dirt to disqualify a car. A rip in a seat won’t hurt you but dust on the dash will.
A freshly waxed car can cost you because of the dust caused from the wax left in corners and around emblems. Wash your car after waxing it to get rid of the dust. Hint: Use the colored wax to help avoid this problem.
Make sure your windows are clean, inside and out. Check tight corners etc.
Tires are the easiest area to loose a Shine & Show. Be VERY careful with Armorall type products. Don’t spray it onto the tires. It will get on your wheels and on your paint. Get a soft brush, carefully put the Armorall on the brush and apply it with the brush. Also, make sure the treads of your tires are clean. No stones, grass or dirt allowed in the tread. Also, apply Armorall to the tread after it is clean.
As stated before, no bugs in the grill etc.
Clean your interior first, then when done close the windows and doors and move to the exterior. The carpet, door panels, seats, etc must be clean. Carry a dust buster for last minute cleaning. Make sure your peddles are clean, no little stones or dirt in the peddles. I put a light coat of armorall on the peddles and on the rubber pad at the gas peddle. MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE ARMORALL BEFORE DRIVING HOME.
Make sure there is no dust on vent louvers, visors or tight corners. ( My neighbor lost a 1st place once because he forgot to dust the top pf his sun visors)
Hope these tips are helpful.

You sound like me Bill...there are a thousand little tricks that will either get a judges attention or distract his attention away ( that can be good too). Some will read these comments and say, you are nuts!! but that's what it takes IMO...Cleanliness and attention to detail....I do all that stuff Bill mentioned and more...my wife thinks I am nuts too!
