i have gas powered air compressor, gas engine shuts off rather than going to idle when pressure is reached, does anyone now anything about compressors. i understand they can be set for continous run or start and stop but have no idea how to fix it.

Throtle/pressure governor may need to be adjusted. As the pressure is raised the pressure switch moves the governor to an idle point, it could be that the adjustment just puts the fuel so far down it just shuts off.
