: March 1985 Hot rod?

Im looking for the name and contact information of the shop in Washington state that specialized in Buick/Olds aluminum 215 motors.

I might have the issue, will have to look. I know the shop you are referring to but cannot remember the name. I do not think they are in business any longer. We got some info from them when we built the little screamer shown below. We put 8 sleeves in the block and if I remember correctly used 305 pistons. There was an article in one of the Hot Rod engine books on it. I have the info at the shop.

Im just gathering information. Apparently there is a way to get 304CI out of one and Id like to see how they went about it. Im guessing they used a 300 crank and .030 overbore of the larger rover block.
A guy in our local club has a nice '62 Olds F85 Cutlass with an alumunum 215. He is up on those motors and told me of a contact he has that does nothing but Olds & Buick 215s. I may see him this Thursday so I'll be sure to ask & then relay the info.

Those are some cool little engines.. I wonder how hard it is to find used rover versions? There has to be some out there that were driven easy by suburban housewives :D

I think the one we did ended up about 270 cu in. We used the 215 crank but upped the bore considerably by resleeving the block. The newer Rover engines start out at 3.9L (241 cu in) so you get a head start on it. I bet they are pretty easy to find. The car in the picute ran some 12.0's in street trim back when we first did the engine. The pictures I posted are from about a month ago when he stopped by to say hi. He has put over 80K miles on the engine since we did it and it still runs like a top.
