I've got new floorpans going into my 72. The brackets that held the bucket seats were rotten, so I ordered these from Goodmark. (http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/grphx/GM%20Car%20Photos/4033-507-71S%20Installed.jpg)

My questions is... why only three studs? What am I supposed to do with the back outside corner of the seat on each side?

The car is not nearby for me to take a look, but this doesn't make sense for me.

Any ideas?

Actually, you should only have two studs (per side), the inboard ones. The outboard seat tracks are bolted in from the top to nutplates that are welded to the bottom of the floorpan.

Well now I am really confused

Yep, on my car, there are nuts welded to the bottom of the floorpan on the outboard sides. Only the inboard tracks are secured with studs and nuts. The outboard tracks are bolted in.

In your picture, it looks like the floor has not been drilled in one place and the corresponding nut has not been welded in place.

I thought there were studs on both,in and outside. Mines all tore apart so I'll have to go and look again...
