Everyone needs to look at this car and read what is written and what isn't written... what do you see??? anything standout that should make you say STOP!!! I have of course biased you all by letting you know there is something major here.. not to mention the many small details.. but I need for you all to look closely

savage71chevelless Apr 1st, 07, 12:41 PM That engine has been restamped big time. The font isn't even close to original. Looks like it was stamped just yesterday. Too bad, the guy lost all credibility there, if he had a real 138 car, just sell it as a non matching numbers car, instead of doing this kind of fraud
ftgallant Apr 1st, 07, 1:00 PM The ad says it is a restamped block, I can spot 10 mostly minor errors or incorrect parts. But he is not giving us pics of Vin, or casting numbers.
2cool Apr 1st, 07, 1:00 PM That car and the pics look a lot like a scam page that was pulled last year.
animal69 Apr 1st, 07, 1:01 PM He states that it has been restamped so he is not committing fraud.
rbwjr325 Apr 1st, 07, 1:02 PM OK Mike, now my suspence is up.I am constantly learning from you guys.I dont really believe much of what these ebay sellers write anymore.Real 138 car numbers matching, and then they usually say, well sorta. What am I missing?
66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Apr 1st, 07, 1:57 PM YES, The Restamp issue.. which he has now amended to say so after I asked him to do so. It was obvious to me and maybe not others, but orig. add left the issue alone.. it was obvious, but not directly stated as it is now. I asked him if it was restamped and he said Yes and told me so without hestitation.. which I appreciated but was not happy that it was not said so up front at first. The rest of teh issues are the usual details missed, but nothing that I was concerned about. Just wanted those who don't know what to look for, to see a Restamp first hand.

savage71chevelless Apr 1st, 07, 7:06 PM When I first pulled it up, it was not stated restamped, but that is a pretty poor job of a restamp. The guy should have just left it alone
Chris R Apr 1st, 07, 11:58 PM I can appreciate him coming out with the restamped block. But I get the feeling this will not be mentioned when the next owner decides to sell.
CT Mark Apr 2nd, 07, 10:49 AM This stuff is just BAD NEWS! Too much of it going on and not enuff of us speaking up and saying "THIS IS WRONG!!". The Corvette guys have been doing this for decades and now it seems to have become somewhat acceptable in the Camaro world...check this out...

It's a cancer on the hobby...plain & simple.
KUDOS to you Mike for calling this guy on the carpet.

Well, just like my day job.. we don't have a cure for it yet.. but with Early Detection and some preventative measures.. we can certainly put a dent in it
It's a don't ask Don't tell policy and that's what I don't like.. I think the Deck Stamp here was poorly done.. which is good for the hobby,,, but not everyone knows what a REAL one looks like.. every plant is different, this was s/w close.. and to think, he paid a premium to have it done
Not saying the car is not a nice car. I have the VIN, so hopefully it will be documented for future sales as not Numbers Matching. I had someone who was interested in the car until he discovered the Re-stamp.
